An executive from the popular television series American Idol and her husband have been found shot dead in their Los Angeles home.

Robin Kaye, a music supervisor for the long-running reality show, and her husband Thomas were discovered by police officers conducting a welfare check. Both had died from gunshot wounds.

The tragic incident is being investigated as a double homicide. Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department have arrested 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian in connection with the killings.

It is alleged that Boodarian broke into the couple’s property on 10 July while they were away, and then murdered them upon their return. Police have confirmed there were no immediate signs of forced entry or struggle at the scene.

Robin Kaye, aged 70, was a respected figure in the entertainment industry. Alongside her work on American Idol, she also contributed to other major productions such as Lip Sync Battle, The Singing Bee, and several Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.

In a statement following the news, a spokesperson for American Idol said:

“Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her.
Robin will remain in our hearts forever, and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.”

The investigation remains ongoing, with Boodarian currently in custody as authorities continue to piece together the timeline and motive behind the killings.
