Formula 1 And The FIA Are Condemning Their Former Boss For His Recent Pro-Putin Comments
Former FIA Head Honcho Bernie Ecclestone Claims That:
The former head of the FIA, Bernie Ecclestone, has been accused of suckering up to Russian President, Vladimir Putin, after making comments defending Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The
91 year old had been in cahoots with Putin since 2014, when Formula 1
announced the start of the Sochi Grand Prix.
Putin
had authorized the invasion of Ukraine after falsely claiming that
Ukraine was: “Oppressing their nation's Russian minority
population”.
Formula 1 has yet to ban Russian and Belarusian drivers from the closed circuit.
But many other sporting institutions including FIFA and the Olympics, have banned all Russian and Belarusian athletes and players from their respective sports.
Often regardless if the athlete opposes or supports the war in Ukraine.
Formula 1 and the FIA are being presured from outside and within to ban Russian and Belarusian drivers from competing in races under their jurisdiction.
Ecclestone
has commented that: “The exclusion of athletes based on their
Russian and/or Belarusian ethnicity and/or nationality is an example
of modern racism, this is unacceptable in this era of globalization”.
