Under the agreement, Boeing's team will provide consultation services to help open or expand airport capabilities across Nigeria. They will also offer advisory services focused on developing local aircraft maintenance facilities.

Nigeria has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Boeing, which is set to significantly boost the capabilities of Nigerian airlines. This agreement will enhance the airlines' ability to lease new aircraft and access essential maintenance and technical support.

Boeing, which currently supplies 60 airlines across Africa with a total of 500 airplanes, has forecasted that the continent will require 1,170 new airplanes over the next two decades.

The MOU was signed in Seattle on Wednesday by Nigerian Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo and Boeing executives. Under this agreement, Boeing will offer a range of services to Nigerian airline operators, including planning workshops, training, technical support, and comprehensive assessments.

As part of the MOU, Boeing's Airports Engineering team will provide consultation services aimed at opening or expanding airport facilities across Nigeria. Additionally, Boeing will offer advisory services to support the development of local aircraft maintenance facilities.

"This partnership with Boeing represents a significant milestone in our efforts to modernize and enhance the capabilities of Nigerian airlines," Keyamo stated on Thursday.

Boeing's Vice President of Commercial Sales for Africa, Anbessie Yitbarek, also commented on the agreement, describing it as an important step toward establishing a sustainable civil aviation ecosystem in Nigeria.
