The Advanced Technology In The Russian Arsenal

Russia's invasion of Ukraine has been swift and brutal, made possible only by the might of their nation's vast military forces and the equipment it boasts.

For years western leaders and international organisations have attempted to negotiate a peaceful resolution between the two countries, but to no avail.

In this article, we I would like to present the most sophisticated military technology being deployed by Russian forces throughout the conflict.

It is currently the nation with the third largest defence budget, with over 845,000 ground troops conscripted and just over 1399 air force personnel.

Though nothing compared to the might of the former Soviet Union, the country has undergone a significant transformation especially since Vladimir Putin first stepped into power back in 2000.

The government has invested much into the development of advanced military technology rather than raw manpower. Below are 8 of the most sophisticated weapons that Russia has in its arsenal.

1. The Bora-Class guided Missile Hovercraft

The 'Bora-class' hoverborne guided missile corvette of the Russian Navy, is one of the few military surface effect ships built solely for naval combat purposes, rather than troop transport and deployment.

2. The Pantsir S1

The 'Pantsir' missile system is a family of self-propelled, medium-range surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery systems.

3. The Lada-Class Submarine

The 'Lada class', is the new advanced class of diesel-electric attack submarines designed by the Russian Rubin Design Bureau under designation 'Project 677 Lada'.

4. The MiG 35 Multi Role Jet Fighter

The Mikoyan MiG-35 is a multirole fighter that is designed by Mikoyan, a division of the Russian United Aircraft Corporation. Marketed as a 4++ generation jet fighter, it is a further development of the MiG-29M/M2 and MiG-29K/KUB fighters.

5. The Buk 2 Missile System

The Buk is a self-propelled, medium-range surface-to-air missile system developed originally by the Soviet Union and its successor state, the Russian Federation. It is designed to counter cruise missiles, smart bombs, fixed/rotary-wing aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles.

6. The RS 24 Yars

The RS-24 Yars 24 also known as RT-24 Yars or Topol'-MR, is a Russian MIRV-equipped, thermonuclear armed intercontinental ballistic missile first tested on May 29th 2007, after a secret military R&D project.

7. The T-90 Main Battle Tank

The T-90 is a third-generation Russian main battle tank. The T-72BU was officially accepted into service in 1992 by the Russian Ministry of Defence and simultaneously renamed as the T-90 for marketing and propaganda purposes aimed at distancing the new type from existing T-72 variants.

8. The Mi 28 Havoc Attack Helicopter

The Mil Mi-28 is a Russian all-weather, day-night, military tandem, two-seat anti-armor attack helicopter. It is an attack helicopter with no intended secondary transport capability, better optimized than the Mil Mi-24 gunship for the role.
