Former American marine Trevor Reed was released from Russian custody via prison swap, following 3 years of being jailed in Russia on trumped up assault charges.
In
exchange for the ex-marine, the United States will handover Russian
drug smuggler Konstantin Yaroshenko.
US
president Joe Biden told the Reed family: “I am pleased to announce
that your son's release has been secured and he should be back on US
soil within the week”.
The
Reed family ecstatic by the news told the Washington Post: “We are
delighted by the news from president Biden, and we too look forward
to seeing our son again”.
Trevor
Reed, who was hospitalized whilst in custody after contracting TB
stated that: “I am glad that my president was able to get me
released for a crime I didn't commit”.
