AHL Announces That Ben Holmstrom Will Be Suspended For 8 Games After Saying Homophobic Slurs

The American Hockey League (AHL) has announced that Rochester Americans forward, Ben Holmstorm, has been suspended for 8 games following his actions whilst playing against Utica in late March.

Holmstrom was issued a game misconduct penalty at the beginning of the first period for using Homophobic Language on the ice.

Whilst suspended, Holmstorm will participate in a diversity and inclusion education class.

The AHL and the National Hockey League (NHL) issued statements saying: “Hockey is a culture that safe, inclusive, and free from abuse”.
