FC Barcelona once again underlined their dominance in European women’s football with a ruthless 4-0 victory over Lyon to secure their fourth UEFA Women’s Champions League crown in six seasons.
DOMINANT BARCELONA HUMBLE LYON TO LIFT FOURTH WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TITLE
In a final that initially appeared tense and evenly balanced, Barcelona eventually overwhelmed the French giants with a devastating second-half performance inspired by brilliant braces from Ewa Pajor and Salma Paralluelo.
Despite Lyon enjoying more possession and looking the sharper side in the opening stages, Barcelona demonstrated the mentality and clinical edge of true champions when it mattered most.
The Spanish champions struggled to establish their usual rhythm during the first half as Lyon pressed aggressively and disrupted Barcelona’s flowing style of play. The French side even thought they had taken the lead midway through the opening half when Lindsey Heaps found the net after a set-piece situation, only for VAR to rule the goal out for offside.
Barcelona, however, remained patient and composed.
Their breakthrough finally arrived in the 55th minute through the ever-dangerous Ewa Pajor. Racing into space inside the Lyon penalty area, the Polish striker produced a calm and clinical finish to hand Barcelona the advantage and completely change the momentum of the final.
From that moment, the Catalan giants never looked back.
Pajor doubled Barcelona’s lead in the 69th minute with a close-range finish that effectively crushed Lyon’s resistance and confirmed her status as the competition’s leading scorer.
Lyon attempted to respond by introducing attacking reinforcements, including Marie-Antoinette Katoto, while Malawi international Tabitha Chawinga came close to reducing the deficit after breaking through on goal. However, Barcelona goalkeeper Cata Coll stood firm with an important save to preserve her side’s control of the contest.
As Lyon pushed forward desperately in search of a way back into the match, Barcelona exposed the spaces left behind with devastating counter-attacking football.
Salma Paralluelo then added further gloss to an already unforgettable night for Barcelona supporters. The Spanish forward produced a stunning strike from the edge of the box late in the game before adding her second goal deep into stoppage time following another rapid attacking transition.
The emphatic victory not only secured Barcelona another European crown but also cemented their reputation as the dominant force in women’s football during this era.
Having now won four Champions League titles in six seasons, Barcelona continue to set the standard across Europe with their blend of technical quality, tactical intelligence, attacking brilliance, and winning mentality.
As chants of “Campeones” echoed around the stadium at full-time, Barcelona celebrated yet another historic achievement — a performance worthy of champions and a reminder to the football world that they remain the team to beat on the European stage.
