British foreign secretary Liz Truss has argued the UK and other western powers should give Ukraine warplanes and attack helicopters, after criticisms towards the US was made by Poland after the country offer to give Ukraine Polish Migs via an American airbase in Germany that US president Joe Biden declined.
Since
the invasion of Ukraine 2 months ago, Ukrainian president Volodymyr
Zelensky has asked for tanks and aircraft from NATO, deeming it
crucial to winning the war in the country started by Russia.
Most
NATO countries have only supplied guns, uniforms, rations/MREs,
helmets, anti-tank and anti-air missile launchers, medical supplies,
and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) in order to refrain from
escalating conflict with Russia, which is at a boiling point as
Russian president Vladimir Putin has threatened to use Russia's nukes
on the west if it interferes with Ukraine any further than it already
is.
That
being said, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Moldova, Poland, Romania,
and Slovenia have all sent Ukraine some of their stockpiled Warsaw
Pact and Soviet era weaponry like tanks and howitzers.
Miss
Truss calls on other western and NATO powers to give Ukraine tanks
and jets stating: “The fate of Ukraine and indeed the rest of
Europe remains in the balance between action and reverting to
appeasement.
The
west must not be complacent to Russia, even if it wins it's war in
Ukraine.
If
Putin succeeds there will be an ungodly misery that will stretch
across Europe, from Moldova to Ireland, we would never be safe again.
Our
county and the rest of NATO should be doing more to aid Ukraine.
Sending
them tanks, jets, heavy guns, and maybe even warships.
Sitting
around dodging the issue via Partygate, wont help Volodymyr Zelensky
win the war against Putin anytime soon”.
Germany
has just announced that it will send 50 tank destroyers and tanks
configured with anti-aircraft guns to Ukraine.
