Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is now at the mercy of home secretary Priti Patal after his extradition orders were sent to her office for approval.
Assange
is wanted by the US government for violating the Espionage Act after
spreading photos and other classified documents on his sight
Wikileaks supplied by various sources including former National
Security Agency (NSA) systems analyst Edward Snowden and former US
Army soldier Bradley Edward Manning.
Julian
Assange would be expected a final high court hearing if his
extradition orders are approved by the home secretary.
One
stipulation the UK wants the US to be bound to is not having Assnage
executed, as spying and espionage in America is a hanging crime.
Assange
for the meantime is held at Belmarsh Prison.
Hacktivists
and Whistleblowers, including Snowden and Manning, have condemned the
UK in being complicit in trying to extradite Julian Assange to the
US.
Protests
in London and outside Belmarsh have taken place in support of the
Wikileaks founder after he was kicked out of the Ecuadorian Embassy
in 2019.
