After a once in a century cancellation of Brazil's famous Carnival due to Covid, it opened back up in a flash in Sao Paulo yesterday.
The
2022 Carnival did have a controversial centre piece: A man in drag
pretending to be a nurse giving a Covid jab to another man depicting
Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro who then turns into a crocodile.
Carnival
has had political sub-texts since the 1980's, but this one was
personal to the crowd.
Bolsonaro
has refused jabs for Brazil, which has resulted in nearly 700,000
deaths according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Public
demonstrations against this decision has led to mass protests in Rio,
demanding that Bolsonaro allow for jabs to enter the country.
