The Ugandan Government has announced on their official Twitter page, that the country has made Swahili it's official language.

Uganda is one of several nations in East and Central Africa who're adopting the language, spoken by millions of people in the region.

Uganda's government has issued a statement saying: “As of July 6th 2022: Swahili is now the official language of our great nation.

This decision has been made in order to reduce the likelihood of translation errors during diplomatic summits with Swahili speaking nations bordering Uganda.

Proposals are being submitted as we speak to make the teaching of Swahili in schools, either as a first or second language compulsory”.
