Islamic Insurgents Killed By Lions And Crocodiles In Mozambique
Four captured members of a jihadist Islamic militant group in Mozambique have told interrogators that more of their forces are killed by the country's lion and crocodile population that the Mozambican Army.
The POWs claim that over 16 members of their squad of guerilla fighters were eaten alive or killed after being entangled with lions and crocodiles, as they were waging their jihad against the Mozambican government in the Cabo Delgado region near the border with Tanzania.
These accounts by the militants were confirmed when exhumed rebel soldiers were found to have bite marks corresponding with lions and crocodiles, as well as civilians reporting to police that they saw lions and crocodiles with bits of rebel uniform stuck in their mouths.
One crocodile which was killed near the village of Quissanga had it's stomach torn open, only for the hunters to find half digested human remains inside, with a near intact arm and two human skulls being found.
It is unknown exactly how many insurgents have been killed by lion and crocodile attacks or have been eaten by them, but estimates put the death toll at 74, with 50 being confirmed cases of death by mauling or being eaten alive.
Mozambican soldiers have been heard joking about the incidents of rebels being eaten, stating: "Nature is on our side!" and "We don't need to fight them, let the animals do it for us".
But only this morning has the Mozambican Army confirmed that three of their soldiers have been found with chunks taken out by blood thirsty lions, who've clearly not taken a side between the government or the rebels, only concerned about getting it's pound of flesh to eat.
