The Then 15 Year Old Canadian Teenager Took Her Own Life After Being Sexually Extorted By The Man And His Friends Online

The Dutchman responsible for then 15 year old Amanda Todd's suicide, 44 year old Aydin Coban, has been found guilty of extortion, child luring, child pornography, sexual harassment, and cyberbullying.

Back in 2012, Amanda Todd posted a video to YouTube detailing how she'd been groomed by a group of men in an online chat room since 2009, when she was only 13 years old.

Her video received world wide attention, some were more sympathetic than others, with online trolls soon posting memes joking about the situation.

Mentally backed into a corner by the internet, classmates, and the Canadian media, Amanda Todd committed suicide on October 10th 2012.

Mr Coban had already been sentenced to 11 years in a Dutch prison in 2017, for sexually blackmailing dozens of young girls and teenagers in the US, UK, and Canada.

The Dutch government allowed Coban to be extradited to Canada, where he was pressed with the charges mentioned previously in a British Columbian court.

During the two month long trial in Canada, prosecutors revealed that Coban used over 22 fake social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter to harass Amanda Todd into performing sexual acts for him and his friends via webcam, with any noncompliance resulting in previous images and videos being leaked to family, friends, and classmates.

Though the date of Coban's sentencing hearing is unknown, Vancouver officials have confirmed that whatever sentence is given will be served in The Netherlands, not in Canada.

Following the guilty verdict, Amanda's mother Carol Todd issued a statement reading: "This has been a long time coming, for myself and my departed daughter.

The court has sent a strong message that sextortion has consequences, no mater where you are, domestically or across international boundaries".
