Her Majesty the Queen has stepped down from hosting her famous Royal Garden Parties due to ill health, Buckingham Palace has announced.
Queen
Elizabeth II is the longest reigning British Monarch in history,
taking the throne aged 25 in 1953 following the death of her father
King George VI the year before.
Now
she's 96 years old, and during her reign has seen so much:
British Decolonization.
The
fall of the Soviet Union.
The
end of the British Empire.
The
death of Diana Princess of Wales
The
UK entering and exiting the EU and the EEC.
The
construction and destruction of the Twin Towers and the World Trade
Center in New York City.
The
War on Terror.
The
Covid-19 Pandemic.
And
now the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
But
the Queen recently has been dealt massive blows to her:
Prince Harry and Princess Meghan's exile to the United States.
Prince Andrew's court cases.
The
death of her husband Prince Phillip the Duke of Edinburgh.
Catching
Covid-19.
Needing
to use a cane.
And
a lack of energy have all made many speculate if the Queen is fit for
the throne in her current state.
A
Royal Envoy for the Queen will be present at the Royal Garden Party,
but if it's a member of the Royal Family or an Interceder is unknown
at this time.
