Ukrainian intelligence confirmed that Russia has started it's second offensive in eastern Ukraine, focusing more around the Donbas and Mariupol in particular.
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the Russians were pushing on the entirety of the 480km (300 Mile) front line, with a large emphasis on tanks.
Ukraine has also stated that Russian forces have captured Kreminna, located in the breakaway Luhansk region.
In Mariupol, Russian soldiers and separatist fighters have started their “Boots on the ground approach”, going building by building and room by room looking for the remnants of the Ukrainian soldiers still holding out in the city.
When the war began in late February, 2/3 of the east was controlled by Ukraine with the other third being taken by the separatists in the Donetsk Peoples Republic (DPR) and the Luhansk Peoples Republic (LPR), who Russia had been backing as apart of the proxy was that started after the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014.
