Datsun was once one of the biggest Japanese car companies, but now they face closure as parent company Nissan sees that profits from Datsun sales have been falling since the 1990's.
Datsun
became Nissan in the 1980's, but the Datsun name was kept for certain
models of cars, notably export models to Europe and Africa.
Nissan
has stated that: “Datsun is part of the companies very DNA, but
when business and tradition collide it's a tough choice.
Regardless
if Datsun gets sold onto a new buyer or disappears for good, we will
continue to manufacture parts for Datsun cars of all ages still on the
roads across the world”.
