Egypt lifts ban on night prayers after backlash

The Egyptian government has countermand its resolve to prohibit night-time devotions and retreats in mosques following a public agitation.

Both patterns are  conventional during the fasting month of Ramadan, with retreats taking place in the concluding 10 days of the month.

Religious Affairs Minister Mohammad Mokhtar Gom'a had said the  embargo was  calculated to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

But Muslims in Egypt requested equal opportunities with Christians who have been flocking  in mass to commemorate Easter this week.

A hashtag well received on Twitter on Tuesday declared Egyptian President Abdul Fattah  al-Sisi as an "enemy of God".
